There was plenty of “rírá and ruaille buaille” in our classroom over the past few weeks. We did an investigation on soil and we found: beetles, centipedes, ants, worms, snails and caterpillars.
We also had a visit from some turtles, tadpoles and a hamster. We gave them a very warm welcome.
Here we are getting ready for the worms. We put earth and sand into the wormery
Children from the senior classes had a great day when they learned how to make a basic electricity circuit using a battery, wire and a bulb. After a few trial runs they quickly realised that they must connect a wire between the battery and the bulb but also another wire from the bulb to the battery.
They also did a few extra experiments:
Does the brightness of the bulb change if there is more than one bulb in the circuit?
Does the brightness change if there are more batteries?
They discussed, compared and recorded their results.
At the beginning of autumn the children from rang a 2 and 3 had a fantastic day when they brought in a collection of fruit, vegetables and herbs from their gardens to taste. Áod went a step further and brought in a homemade apple pie to share with everyone. It was very tasty! A great day was had by all!
